The Joy Project wk. 2

“Be JOYFUL always; pray continually;

give thanks in all circumstances,

for this is God’s well for you in Christ Jesus.”

1 Thessalonians 5:16-18 (NIV)

This past weekend was the second weekend of “The Joy Project” at Quest Community Church. As I open my to the first page of my new journal, at the bottom of the page there was the verse that I quoted at the beginning. HOW FLIPPIN AWESOME IS THAT!!!! Not only did it say BE JOYFUL but it talked about giving thanks in ALL circumstances. Which, I think, is appropriate for the season we are going into now. Thanksgiving.

What would make your joy complete?

What is it that would make me happy?

Both of those questions are questions that Pastor Pete asked during his sermon. Granted, they were rhetorical questions but I could answer them at a drop of a hat. But after Pastor Pete continued on, I realized that I am already JOYFUL without the things I answered those questions with. I have the Love of Jesus. It took me quite sometime to fully be able to accept that but now that I have, I am overflowing. It is such an awesome feeling to be joyful even when the enemy is attacking you from all sides.

“Don’t be selfish; don’t try to impress others. Be humble, thinking of others as better than yourselves.

Don’t look out for only your own interests, but take an interest in others, too.”

Philippians 2:3-4

Those verses just really stuck out to me this week. As I continue on this journey with partnering with the people from K-State in our walks with Christ, I realized that sometimes I WILL need to put them and their needs and interests above my own. When I do that, I have a feeling that I will find a completely new joy because I was able to put someone above myself.
